I'd like to try CNC Zeus to run my CNC bed mill retrofit but I have a few questions first.
Will CNC Zeus run DC servo motors?
Since CNC Zues run from DOS, is it more stable than a CNC control program running from a Windows environment?
Can it handle glass scale position feadback? In addition to encoder feedback?
Thanks, Timothy |

Hi,
Yes, it runs DC SERVO Motors provided you have DC SERVO Drives with STEP/DRIECTION inputs. There is no comparision of Windows with DOS. A machine having windows has so much to look after along with your CNC Machining. Where as DOS really provide a dedicated and robust enviroment. So the performance is really so reliable and stable of this software. No, it does not take encoder feedback directly from rotary or linear encoder. But it has an Emergency interrupt bit that show the error occurrence and stops the control going any further. This input can be assigned to any input pin of the parallel port. |

Excellent.
The Dugong DC drives from CNCDrives I plan on using are step and direction drives so they will work just fine. I found FreeDOS.org so formatting the computer looks to be a snap too.
CNCZeus runs all the standard G and M codes and can handle a MPG pendant, all on a stable platform, so what else could you possibly need? |
